Freedom Foundation Condemns The Robbery of Alwahdawi's Newspaper Headquarter In Sana'a


Sana’a (22 Dec.2012):

The Freedom Foundation for Media Freedom, Rights and development strongly condemns the armed robbery by the unknown gunmen on the newspaper' HQ in Sixteen Street and looting its equipments and electronic archive on Friday 21,12,2012.

The Freedom Foundation has received a report from the news paper confirming that unidentified gunmen have broken into the newspaper office located in sixteen Street in Sana'a, during the Friday's prayer and stolen the producing equipments, electronic devices and the entire archive of the newspaper since its starting of issuance.  

Freedom Foundation Launches Advanced Training Course of Professional TV Filming and Editing for 20 Participants Form 11 TV channels


Sana'a (22 December ,2012) 

Freedom Foundation for media freedom, rights and development launched today the Advanced Training Course 

of Professional TV Filming and Edition for 20 participants from 11 state-owned and private TV channels in Yemen.
The course, which lasts for one week, is organized in collaboration with the Public affairs section at the US Embassy in Sana'a, where two Egyptian trainers who are professionally specialized in TV Filming and Editing and in Media Training too will deliver the training.
Conflict and murder drive sharp increase in journalist deaths


New York, December 18, 2012

Combat-related deaths in Syria and targeted murders in Somalia, Pakistan, and Brazil are the driving forces behind a sharp rise in press fatalities in 2012, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists’ year-end analysis of journalists killed in the line of duty.

At least 67 journalists were killed worldwide in direct relation to their work by mid-December, a 42 percent increase over 2011. CPJ is investigating the deaths of another 30 journalists to establish whether these were work-related.

Freedom Foundation condemns the assault on six journalists in Hodeida


 Sana'a, (11 December 2012):

Freedom Foundation for media freedom, rights and development condemns the cruel assault on six journalists took place in Mansourieh directorate, Hodeida province by beatings and firing shots by gunmen, while journalists practicing their jobs.

 The correspondent of Yemen news agency (Saba), Fouad Alausaji explained in a reporting to Freedom Foundation that he surprised along with five of his colleagues who are working to other media, like Alsaeedah TV cameraman; Mr. Abdullah Shai'e, the editor of Hodeida Press; Mr. Fadhl Ahmed Saeed, and  other three journalists; Mr. Hamdeen Alahdal,; Mr. Omar Alahdal, Mr. Ayman Jermish ,that  an armed gang carrying weapons (AK47) and sticks attacked them and took the TV camera forcibly by using  weapons.

Freedom Foundation (FF) for media freedom, rights and development concluded advanced training course (TV Professional reporter) with great success, which organized by the Foundation in collaboration with the public affairs section of the U.S. embassy in Sana'a. The course lasted two weeks for 29 TV reporters from 8 public and private TV channels.

The head of the FF, Khaled al-Hammadi said this training course was held with high quality standards and it included the vocabulary theory and work practice. "It devoted the greater part for the work practice, where it was full of operative exercises and field practices, which FF made sure to raise the professional level of the Yemeni reporters to the professional level and in accordance with international standards," he said.

Freedom Foundation launches the course of (professional TV reporter) in Sana'a

 Sana'a, November 24, 2012:

The Freedom Foundation (FF) for media freedom, rights and development launched on Saturday in Sana'a the course of (TV professional reporter) organized by the foundation for twenty television correspondent from 8 Yemeni government and private satellite TV channels. 

The Foundation organized this two-week course in partnership and cooperation with the media and cultural attaché of U.S. Embassy in Sana'a, which is the third training course held by FF under its media development, in order to enhance the professionalism of media and improving media performance.


At the opening ceremony, chairman of Freedom Foundation, journalist Khaled al-Hammadi said that this course is a quality and great efforts have been taken for its implementation.

Freedom Foundation condemns the death threat to al-Sharif by a Judge of judicial inspection


Sunday (18 Nov. 2012) :

The Freedom Foundation (FF) for media freedom, rights and development condemned the threat of physical clearance for news editor in Suhail TV channel, Abdul Rahman Al-Sharif, on the backdrop of his media activity.

Al-Sharif said in a statement that Freedom Foundation received a copy of it that he had been threatened with death by Judge Mohammed al-Bashiq (who is judge of judicial inspection at the Ministry of Justice) when he found him on a bus heading from al-Dairy area to al-Hasabah area on Saturday afternoon (11/17/2012).

SANAA (11/12/2012):

The Freedom Foundation (FF) for media freedom, rights and development condemned the beating attack on correspondent of (Mareb Press) news website in Dhamar province, journalist and human rights activist Mohammed al-Washai'e, last Saturday.

The foundation  also condemned the assault against the photographer of Suhail TV channel Abdul Karim Hadis in Hajjah province and confiscated his camera, when he was in news coverage for protest activity.

The news network of Mareb Press said that its correspondent al-Washai'e assaulted by the deputy commander of the security camp, in front of the security administration building of the province, while he was covering a protest implemented by personnel and security officers of Ans security department in the province of Dhamar.

Freedom Foundation condemns assassination attempt targeted Al-Manhi and burning houses of Al-Asmar and Allaith

Thursday (8 November 2012):

Freedom Foundation (FF) for media freedom, rights and development condemns assassination attempt targeted head of the Media Centre in Change Square in Dhamar province (100 k.m. south Sana’a) Ibrahim Al-Manhi, as well as denounced the burning houses of  2 journalists in Dhale province, south Yemen, Ali al-Asmar and Abdul Aziz al-Laith, in separate cases last Tuesday.

Ibrahim Al-Manhi informed Freedom Foundation that unidentified gunmen were traveling in a 4x4 car without a plate number, they chased as he returned home about eight o'clock on Tuesday night, then they start gun shooting around his body from their gun in street in the city of Dhamar, the shooting was around his head and between his legs and then they fled.


Freedom Foundation condemns preventing Reuters crew from covering Al-Ghadeer festival in Raida City


Sanaa November 4, 2012

Freedom Foundation for media freedom, rights and development condemns preventing the correspondent and photographers of Reuters news agency from entering Raida in Amran province, north Yemen, to cover the Al-Ghadeer festival organized by the Al-Houthi group annually to mark this occasion.

The Freedom Foundation informed by the Reuters news agency crew of photographers and correspondent confirming that gunmen believed to belong to the Islah Party prevented them from getting access to the city of Raida to cover Al-Ghadeer festival, despite their attempts to reach the place of the celebration through many directions and despite showing their Press identifications.

Freedom Foundation participates in sit-in demanding the release of journalist Haider


Sanaa October 17, 2012

Freedom Foundation (FF) for media freedom, rights and development participated in the sit-in demanding the release of Yemeni journalist Abdulelah Haider, which called by the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate today in front of the Ministry of Justice in Sanaa .

The FF participation was effectively and it shows large presence for the efforts of it, particularly in this issue in which the Yemen government continued detention of Haider for more than two and half years on charges of unveiled secret information related to the war on terror in Yemen.
