Freedom Foundation for media freedom, rights and development strongly condemned the detention of managing editor of

(al-Wahdawi Net) news website, the journalist Adel Abdul-Mughni in Sana'a airport on Sunday (10 Nov.) for the second time in less than two months.
Freedom Foundation also condemned the attack on the crew of al-Saeedah TV in the area of Bani al-Harith, near to Sana’a International Airport, as well it condemned the blocking and hacking of (Dammaj Press) news website inside and outside Yemen, since last Thursday .
In a report to Freedom Foundation, Abdul-Mughni confirmed of being detained for more than nine hours at Sana’a airport upon his return from Morocco, after taking part in a training course in the field of journalism .
He said that "two national security officers and other security soldiers have detained him at Sana’a International Airport and confiscated his mobile phone , his passport , a sum of money and all papers that were in his possession, and provocatively interrogated and threatened him of hanging and putting chains on his hands“.
As Freedom Foundation is condemning the detention of Adel Abdul-Mughni, it demands the immediate removing of his name from the security black list of the airport so as not to be subjected to harassment or detention when every time travelling outside Yemen .
Moreover, in a report to Freedom Foundation, the representative of al-Saeedah TV channel Mohammed al-Battah confirmed that he and TV cameraman of al-Saeedah Abdul-Haleem Sabrah, were attacked by batons and throwing stones at them by six men carrying bladed weapons (Janbiah) and traveling in a car during preparing a news report in the area of Bani Howwat ,Bani al-Harith directorate, near to Sana’a International Airport in the capital Sana’a .
Freedom Foundation also has received a report from the editorial board of (Dammaj Press ) website ,stating that the website was subjected to hacking and blocking at home and abroad , on the morning of Thursday ( 07/11/2013 ) , after about 200 hours of the launching site .
As Freedom Foundation is condemning these three violations of media freedom, it demands concerned authority to investigate these incidents and hold perpetrators accountable, take legal action against them and provide safety for journalists and secure their rights.
It’s also calling upon the government to intervene and make an urgent decision to remove the names of journalists from the security black list at airports and ports of Yemen so as not these lists remain a tool for the suppression of media freedoms in Yemen.
