Freedom Foundation for media freedom, rights and development expresses its great

happiness for the release of Dutch journalist Judith Spiegel and her partner Boudewijn Berendsen after six months of their kidnapping in the capital Sana’a, Yemen.
The Yemeni Interior Ministry said "The Dutch journalist Judith Spiegel and her partner Boudewijn Berendsen have been released, and that the kidnappers released the two Dutch hostages in the area neighboring to the Netherlands Embassy in Sana'a and they are in good health.”
The Dutch ambassador to Yemen, Jeroen Verheul said: Happy to confirm that Judith & Boudewijn have been released safe & sound..Thankful to Yemeni government for their full support”.
Judith and her partner arrived safely to the Netherlands embassy in Sana’a at noon today Tuesday 10th. Dec. 2013.
Yemeni official sources said that the Dutch journalist and her partner are due to fly to the Netherlands on Wednesday.They were received by the Dutch ambassador on Tuesday after their kidnapping on June,8th. 2013 in their living area in Sana’a, Yemen.
As Freedom Foundation is expressing its happiness about the release of Dutch journalist, Judith Spiegel and her partner, it is demanding Yemeni authorities to tighten security measures and put an end to the kidnapping of Yemeni and foreign journalists in Yemen, which is considered a serious violation of media freedom and negatively affect the professional performance of media in Yemen .
