Freedom Foundation for media freedom, rights and development held - with Studies and Economic

Media Center - a workshop on the training needs for junior journalists, which targeted more than 30 participants of both genders from the junior graduates of the Faculty of Mass Communication .
This workshop which held in the Freedom Foundation’s headquarter in Sana’a, was implemented in cooperation with the International Media Support (IMS) and attended by the leadership of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Sana’a University, and discussed the current gap between
the theory of university education outputs and the practical methods in media field. It also discussed the practical training needs in the various press and media techniques and possible opportunities available for that, and what is the role supposed to be carried out by the public and private institutions in the field of media training and development.
The president of Freedom Foundation, Khaled Al-Hammadi said in his speech to the participants,
“this workshop comes to closely know the training and development needs for the media graduates and formulate these needs into new training plans for implementing within the next training projects ."
He confirmed that the holding of this workshop comes as a rsult of orientations to create a partnership and joint work with similar organizations at home and abroad in order to develop media, pay attention to the media outputs and try to qualify them for the labor market by bridging the gap between the theoretical study and practical application.
The deputy dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Sana’a University, Dr. Ali Al-Buraihi praised this good step aiming to identify the training needs of junior graduates of the faculties of Information and provide them with qualitative training opportunities through NGOs like Freedom Foundation and Economic Media Center, which are at the forefront of non-governmental organizations which strive to create a partnership and provide qualitative training for the students of the Faculty of Mass Communication’s students.
He said “Freedom Foundation and Economic Media Center have a clear and grateful fingerprint in caring with the students of the Faculty of Mass Communication. We hope that this will contribute to focus more on providing practical training so that complements the theoretical side received by the students of the Faculty of Mass Communication ."
For his part, the president of the Economic Media Center, Mustafa Nasr delivered a presentation about the importance of the media training, the professional training elements and the aspects of the media skills. Some forms and questionnaires were distributed for the participants about the training needs that they are looking and their opinion about needs.
The discussion included; the training obstacles for the young and junior journalists, the current deficiencies in this aspect and the ways to overcome them, the development of the media training as an important step to promote the media in general and maintain the professional media level preserving the professional standards and journalistic ethics .
